Deja Vu – Concerto for Viola and Orchestra

The excellent violist Boris Vayner and the orchestra at the University of Kansas at Lawrence will be presenting Deja Vu, likely in the Spring of 2021!!!! I’ve written four pieces for Boris and a few of his ensembles over the past 10 or so years, and it’s always a wonderful experience musically and otherwise. The piece Deja Vu is highest orchestral writing I’ve ever produced. I couldn’t be happier to know that it will be done!!! More later….For now, here is the front-page. Two unusual things about this piece, first, it starts with a solo, and second, the orchestra has no high strings. Smile emoji time.
