I’ve written a piece for my friend, one of the best violinists in the world, Alla Aranovskaya, to move my thoughts and help raise money for Ukraine. So far the concerts associated have raised several thousand dollars to buy helmets for soldiers defending their freedom against what will certainly be remembered as war crimes perpetrated by Russia. The piece is entitled Zelensky after the President of Ukraine, and with his words embedded in the score. You can hear it with a short introduction one hour and 15 seconds into this link which is all of the first concert Unity For Ukraine presented by my friends and colleagues St. Petersburg String Quartet and Piano Quartet. Thank you to Alla Aranovskaya for all of your hard work to make this world a more just and beautiful place!

This was written as a commission by the St. Petersburg String Quartet on the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

What happens when a revolution in thought is so powerful that it changes the heart? It has happened recently, and I’ve catalogued it in my mind and created this story/song about how Neil Degrasse Tyson’s Cosmos series is powerful enough to be a religion itself. Dedicated to the wonderful pianist here, a best friend and frequent collaborator, a mensch of mensches, such a talent and force for good, everyone who knew you shed tears Lloyd Arriola.

What could genetic modification actually bring? Has anybody stopped to think about how profits may effect our and this planet’s health long term? What about the further loss of small family farms and Wall Street takeovers that have reshaped what was a huge sector of American life. Should food be an investment? Who deserves nutrition? These questions are adressed in The Garden.
